Need a place in North Tahoe for the whole family (or two families) to stay under one roof? With room to sleep 9 guests, this is the perfect townhome for your Forest Retreat!

Plenty of windows allow for natural light in this bright and open space. The kitchen, bathrooms, and flooring were recently renovated so it's sure to please. The entry level includes two bedrooms, one boasts a comfortable king-size bed and the other with two bunk sets. One of the bedrooms has a glass sliding door to the covered deck and the other has a window seat. There is also a full bath with a tub/shower. The laundry closet is just across the hall. On the second level, the living room, dining area, and kitchen are all together, so everyone can gather in one place. You’ll also find the third bedroom with king-size bed, large windows, and window seat, and the second full bathroom. Plenty of bath linens are provided.

In the living room, relax and warm up by the wood-burning fireplace. There's a flat screen TV with cable and DVD player and Wi-Fi to keep everyone entertained, or, sink into the cozy sofas and connect with a good conversation. Step out on the adjacent covered deck to admire the forest views (BBQ NOT AVAILABLE - PLACER COUNTY ORDINANCE). With all those people, at times it’s easier and more economical to stay in for meals. The well-equipped kitchen features stainless-steel appliances and granite countertops and includes everything you need to prepare a hearty breakfast, a quick snack, or a home-cooked dinner. You can also grill on the deck barbeque. The dishwasher makes clean up a breeze. There are six chairs at the large dining table and four more chairs at the breakfast bar.

When you’re ready to venture outside, you’ll love this perfect vacation setting. The Recreation Center / Lodge features a swimming pool, two outdoor hot tubs, locker room saunas, billiards, tennis and bocce courts, and a fitness trail. The complex backs up to Tahoe National Forest, offering miles of hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and other activities year-round. Your Forest Retreat is in Carnelian Bay, where all North Lake Tahoe is right at your doorstep! Stroll down to Magic Carpet mini golf or check out Waterman’s Landing, located at Patton Landing Beach, a 3-acre, pebbly beach known for stand-up paddling.

Closer to home, you'll find superb dining options right in town like Gar Woods Grill and Pier for steaks and fish, the Old Post Office Coffee Shop for hearty breakfasts, and CB's Pizza for hand-tossed pies and beer. You're only 10-12 miles from three great ski resorts—Northstar, Alpine Meadows, and Squaw Valley. Whether you prefer to downhill or cross-country ski, snowboard, snowshoe, or go sledding or ice skating, North Tahoe is the place for winter fun. At Squaw Valley, after conquering the slopes, go tubing with the kids or try out the mini snowmobiles at SnoVentures Activity Zone. There are dogsledding tours too!In every season, the Village at Squaw Valley offers dining, shopping, the Squaw Valley Aerial Tram, and a variety of activities. In the summer, ride the Aerial Tram to High Camp then choose a scenic trail and walk or hike in one of the most breathtaking places in the world! At 8,200 feet elevation, admire the beauty of the Sierra Nevada Mountains with views of Lake Tahoe and Squaw Valley's legendary granite peaks. In the Aerial Tram building lobby, kids and grownups can have a blast climbing the variety of routes on the 30’ simulated Headwall Climbing Wall. If you dare, learn how to do a front or back somersault at Skyjump; all ages are welcome.

Everything was lovely for our weeklong stay! It is a nice neighborhood to vacation in! Carnelian Bay is close to everything from the lakeside, rafting, miniature golf, restaurants, shopping, Incline Village for gambling, and of course the wonderful amenities at the home (barbecue and lake gear) plus the pool, hot tub, arcade, and billiards table. We loved how quiet and peaceful the home was—we saw people but rarely heard others. The only issue we had were a few kitchen staples were missing, and we would have liked full blackout shades in the bedrooms (the sun comes up around 4:15 in the summers). Otherwise, a wonderful stay!

We loved our stay at Carnelian Bay! We came with a group of 8 women—we were all on the same floor in the dorms our freshman year and have stayed tight ever since. We all turn 40 this year and we came here to celebrate and loved every minute of it. The condo was clean and perfectly suitable for our group. We loved the forest view and the proximity to the lake. Thanks for a great weekend! We can’t stop thinking about it.

Great unit to stay at. MAJOR ISSUE: At no time during booking/billing process, did it state that the pool woud be closed on Sunday & Monday due to staffing issues. It is only mentioned on the HOA site. Minor issue: The unit did not have any broom available.

Our group really loved staying here. Spacious for our group of 7 and located in a great spot near the lake. We walked to the coffee shop on the lake every morning for breakfast. We'll be back for sure!

Location was perfect for our needs. The condo had all the amenities, kitchen was well stock with items needed. Loved the fireplace especially in the cool mornings drinking coffee and chatting about the day’s plans. Found the air conditioner to be a bit of a challenge, could not get it to work. Overall it was great, we had wonderful time with great memories.

The Forest Retreat is a great rental option. The location is brilliant and the condo itself is very nice. It was super clean, had plenty of supplies and a fully stocked kitchen. We did not use the pool or hot tub because it was snowing, but can attest to the great maintenance provided for plowing and shoveling.

The only diss on this place is the HVAC at night. There is a huge temperature difference between bedrooms on each floor. So just know you will need the extra comforter on the 1st floor and plan to sleep in shorts if you are on the second. It's not an issue when everyone is awake and moving around, just something we couldn't seem to get right at night.

Great location, especially if you're looking to ski Northstar/Squaw and want to avoid the traffic coming off the 80 in the morning. Owners were very responsive and helpful leading up to the stay, and everything was as promised in the unit itself. As is to be expected in winter settings, the strength of the heating in each room can vary somewhat, so prep accordingly. Other than that, a great spot for a weekend shredding the slopes.

We arrived in a snowstorm and were happy to find the roads accessible and plowed. The condo heated up right away and we felt so warm and cozy sitting in front of the easily lit fireplace. Once it was daylight, we were pleasantly surprised to see the amazing views and scenery visible from every window! We truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this condo to others.

Overall happy with this vacation rental. Great location, close to Northstar and close to Safeway. Property was clean, but the carpets are a little worn. The bedding was a little dated. Also, the temperature on the bottom floor was very cold, a bit difficult to regulate. Property managers were easy to work with, quick to respond. Overall, I would stay here again.

The house was well located and accommodated 10 people comfortably. The kitchen and living room make for a great space for preparing food and gathering with friends and family. The house stocked a few board games, too!

Parking for two cars was easy to find and near the house. We were able to park an additional car near the recreation center, about a 5-minute drive away. We didn't make use of the recreation center, so can't comment on the hot tubs. We felt that the rental cost was affordable, so weren't too picky about those amenities.

Two of the bedrooms (with king beds) were downstairs, which didn't get much heating, and made for rather cold nights. It would be nice if the property management could stock additional blankets for this reason.

I rented the Forest Retreat for a New Year's Eve trip with 6 other friends, and it served us perfectly. There was plenty of space for everyone and lots to do nearby for those who didn't ski. We had everything we needed to make many meals there, and were close enough---within then minutes---to King's Beach and Tahoe City to dine out or get groceries. Plus we were only 20 minutes from Alpine, Squaw, and Northstar. My only complaint is that the check-out is early (10 AM) but the hosts were accommodating enough to give us an extra hour. I would definitely stay again.

Because of the coronavirus, our whole family really needed this vacation this year. The stay at Carnelian Woods was great. The three units we had (#39, #37 and #28) were all very comfortable. Over all, a wonderful experience.

My alumnni group has stayed in this complex a number of times over the years on ski trips, and once again, everything was great.

The owners BOOK on the table for comments, from the person who left the morning before we left, talks about "FLEAS" and the bed sheets not being changed, we found no such problem. We were very satisfied.

We have only 1 request. In the DVD Player, my 7-year old son left a Christmas Present, the DVD "Despicable Me". May I request that you "knock on the door" with the current people and ask for this DVD. We would be happy to reimburse you office for postage. Please confirm found and send regular mail. I would have given this rental 5 stars in every category, however upon arriving we discovered the dish washer was broken. We had to call for maintenance. Also no dish towels were provided so we had to call for those as well. The nice part was someone was sent out right away for repairs and to send dish towels.

The pool and hot tubs were great. Nice path from the condo to the club house.

We stayed here for a quick weekend get away. Online booking was easy. It was a perfect place for 2 families to share. Kayaking from Carnelian Bay was beautiful and within walking distance to the lake. We will come back!

What a perfect spot for our family! We had three generations (grandparents, two kids (+partners) and two grandkids) all here and it was perfect. The kids took the loft (which did mean we all had to be quiet in the kitchen/living room at bedtime, but we kept them up late so it didn't affect too much), the grandparents and kids-free took the downstairs, and the parents took the room on the main floor. Everyone had their own space, but the common area was perfect for all coming together. The location had absolutely everything you could need - walk to the water (about five minutes), a few great eats in walking distance, mini-golf, pool, running trails. Plus, even though it's a townhouse, when you are sitting in the main room, you can't see a single other building - you feel like you are completely secluded in the forest. The townhouse also had everything we needed. Heads up: if you have little kids, the spacing on the rails/stairs could be a little tricky (we definitely had to drill into our four- and five-year-old not to stick their heads/body parts through), but it really wasn't an issue for us since they are big enough to listen! All in all - loved it! The grandparents made sure that I would save this spot so that we can go back!!

Very pleased with the cleanliness and modernization of this unit. We have visited Carnelian Woods since the 70's and were pleasantly surprised to find the old charm combined with upgraded amenities. We will be returning next summer for a longer stay.

I booked the cabin for a family vacation and I am more than happy with my choice of picking the town house in Carnelian Bay. It was clean and the place was updated for the most part. The rest of my family loved the place as well.

This was a perfect spot for us to celebrate with friends! We had 8 people comfortably stay in this home, with quick access to Squaw for skiing. The view on a snow weekend was breathtaking, and playing games in front of the warm fire was exactly what we needed. The kitchen had everything we needed, was roomy for us to cook together, and the closets for storing our skis kept everything organized. The property management was incredibly responsive and exceeded our expectations. I hope to return and highly recommend this rental to anyone!

Very clean townhouse. The property is as described. Three spacious bedrooms with a large loft space. Great space for 3 couples or large family. Easy access to grocery stores, shops and ski resorts.
