Description

Nestled in the pines of Tahoe National Forest, between Blackwood Creek and the West Shore of Lake Tahoe, your picture perfect vacation cabin awaits! Recently remodeled, this two story, three bedroom, two bath home has room to sleep six guests. With heated Spanish tile floors, two gas fireplaces, and a quiet location, you’ll love Polished Gem.

The main level features a gourmet, open concept kitchen with stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher, new cabinets, solid surface countertops with tile backsplash, and everything you need to create homecooked meals. There is seating at the breakfast bar and nearby dining table.

The kitchen flows into the living room. Relax with your favorite beverage on the comfy sectional or cozy chair by the freestanding gas fireplace. Windows all around invite you to take in the fresh forest air and views. There’s also a large flat screen TV with DVD player and sound bar.

Still on the main floor, there is a handy mud room and a bathroom with shower.

Upstairs, you’ll find the spacious master bedroom with queen-size bed, freestanding gas fireplace, leather chair with ottoman, large windows, and flat screen TV. The full bathroom features granite countertops with dual sinks. Plenty of bed and bath linens are provided. There is another queen bedroom and a room with two twin beds. Lovely wood furniture throughout adds to the charm. Washer and Dryer are located on this level as well.

This cabin in the woods beckons you to unplug from the constant chatter of daily life – there is no cable or satellite service. Instead, why not listen to the soothing sounds of nature? There’s plenty to hear: chirping birds, waves lapping on the lake shore, squirrels jabbering in the trees, and the wind whispering through pine needles. Wi-Fi is also included.

In the yard, you’ll find a gas barbeque and outdoor table with six chairs plus additional seating—gather around the firepit for stories and s’mores!

Ready to play in the snow? Three great ski resorts—Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, and Northstar, are nearby. Whether you prefer to downhill or cross country ski, snowboard, snowshoe, or go sledding or ice skating, Tahoe has a place for every winter activity.

Gambling and nightlife are a short drive away, across the Nevada border.

Polished Gem is centrally located and close to the North Lake Tahoe hot spots Waterman’s Landing, located at Patton Landing, a 3-acre, pebbly beach known for stand up paddling, Magic Carpet mini golf, and Gar Woods Grill & Pier.

You won’t want to miss the icon of Lake Tahoe, Emerald Bay, a short drive away. Emerald Bay State Park boasts 360-degree picturesque views that encompass Emerald Bay, Fannette Island, Eagle Falls, and Vikingsholm Castle.

Meeks Bay has a terrific sandy beach and paddleboard and boat rentals. Located on National Forest Land, the shoreline is popular for beautiful scenery, sprawling clean beaches, and easy access. The area offers recreation opportunities including swimming, biking, boating and hiking into the nearby Desolation Wilderness.

Ed Z’Berg – Sugar Pine Point State Park contains one of the finest remaining natural areas on Lake Tahoe. With nearly two miles of lake frontage, the park has dense forests of pine, fir, aspen, and juniper. Another attraction is the Hellman-Ehrman Mansion (also known as Pine Lodge), a summer home built in 1903. Winter visitors to the park will find over 20 kilometers of marked cross country ski trails and a heated restroom in the General Creek campground.

D.L. Bliss State Park is open to vehicular traffic in the summer, where you can enjoy swimming or scuba diving in the crystal clear water of Lake Tahoe, picnicking, relaxing on the warm sand of Lester Beach or Calawee Cove, and access to hiking the Rubicon Trail, Lighthouse Trail, and Balancing Rock Trail. Lester Beach is a popular location to launch your kayak, paddleboard, or canoe.

I really don't want this place to get too popular b/c it was easy to book, a great location and reasonably priced! The quality was amazing: bedding, cookware, appliances, etc. Quiet neighborhood and access to a nearby dock, which was helpful b/c the waterline hid the beach. So grateful to have such a warm, wonderful place to make memories with the kids.

Had a lovely time up in Tahoe at this sweet spot on the West Shore. Really nicely built, very cozy and warm (maybe sometimes too warm but better than the opposite in the winter). Kitchen was great and very nicely supplied with great pans, convection oven, dishwasher, etc. We cook a lot so this was a big plus for us, we cooked every meal while we were there. A full roasted chicken dinner, cinnamon rolls, carne adovada tacos, we were able to do it all! There were 6 of us there (4 adults, two little girls). The master was beautiful, the other two bedrooms were nice, a bit small but the girls loved their own individual twin beds with lights above them. Our mattress in the smaller bedroom wasn't the best (a bit too firm) but I usually have a hard time sleeping in different places. Only complaint is that I wish there were a couple extra dish towels for the kitchen but other than that it was adorable and worked very well for us for the four nights we stayed there. Plus there was a great yard to go sledding down! And they were very accommodating, we got a notice the power was going to be turned off on the day we were leaving in the morning (8-10am) and when I notified them about it, they gave us a late check out at no extra cost.

Clean and comfortable

The house was roomy and cousy. I love the big windows during the day; a lot of natural light. THe location is also nice because its quiet and many trees around.
The con we noticed is the heating in the two extra rooms. There is no heating vents in those room, at least we didn't find them. The room doors had to be left open to allow the heat from the hallway to go in.
